Denmark Road – Warehouse to Residential Conversion

Adam Renovations delivered the conversion of a former warehouse and storage space on Denmark Road into a series of fully serviced residential apartments for a client with strong connections to the art and creative industries. The brief was not simply to create functional accommodation, but to produce distinctive living spaces with a strong contemporary identity, reflecting the creative character of the wider site.

The project involved the complete transformation of the existing commercial space into residential accommodation, including new internal layouts, kitchens, bathrooms, plumbing, electrical installations, heating, ventilation and associated building services. Significant coordination was required to adapt the existing building fabric and infrastructure for residential use while creating practical, comfortable and well-finished homes.

A major feature of the scheme was the interior detailing. The client wanted the apartments to feel individual and design-led rather than conventional, with extensive use of architectural lighting, coloured LED illumination, concealed lighting, shadow-gap detailing and carefully controlled finishes. These elements were coordinated with the electrical and interior fit-out works to create changes in tone, depth and atmosphere throughout the spaces.

The conversion required careful pre-construction planning to resolve the interface between the existing warehouse structure, the proposed residential layouts and the new building services. Particular attention was given to sequencing, technical coordination and ensuring that kitchens, bathrooms, lighting and finishes could be integrated cleanly within the constraints of the existing building.

The completed development transformed previously underused commercial storage space into contemporary residential accommodation with a distinctive creative character. The combination of new services, bespoke interior detailing and high-quality finishes produced a series of modern living spaces that were very different from the building’s original industrial use.
