Hackney, E8 – Rear Kitchen Extension & Full House Renovation

Adam Renovations completed a comprehensive residential renovation in Hackney, E8, combining a full-house refurbishment with a distinctive rear kitchen extension designed to create a brighter, more open and functional ground-floor living space.

The extension features extensive glazing and exposed BauBuche structural timber beams, which form a prominent architectural element within the new space. The engineered timber structure was carefully coordinated with the glazing, roof construction and existing building to create a contemporary addition with a strong visual character.

Internally, the works included extensive refurbishment and reconfiguration throughout the property, incorporating a new kitchen, upgraded finishes, building services and associated joinery. The enlarged ground floor created a more practical connection between the kitchen, living areas and rear garden while allowing substantially more natural light into the house.

Particular attention was given to the detailing of the exposed structure and the junctions between the new extension and the original property. The combination of timber, glazing and carefully finished internal surfaces created a warm contemporary interior while retaining elements of the character of the existing London home.

The completed project transformed the property into a modern and highly functional family home, with the rear extension forming the centrepiece of the refurbishment.
