BUILDING CONTRACTORS IN KENSINGTON
Proven experience across some of Kensington's finest homes.
Adam Renovations has completed multiple substantial residential refurbishments across Kensington, ranging from elegant apartments and maisonettes to large three-storey family houses and extension-led projects.
LOCAL TRACK RECORD
Kensington is not a new market for us.
Our completed work in Kensington includes multi-storey family houses, substantial apartment refurbishments, traditional interiors and extension projects. Several commissions sit within the same streets and neighbourhoods, giving us genuine local delivery history rather than simply a target postcode.
REDFIELD LANE
One completed house led directly to the next.
Adam Renovations first completed the refurbishment and rear extension of 13 Redfield Lane, a four-bedroom, three-storey house. That project subsequently led to our appointment at neighbouring 17 Redfield Lane for the refurbishment of another substantial five-bedroom, three-storey home.
WHOLE-HOUSE REFURBISHMENT
When almost every room is changing, the project has to be managed as one building.
Our Kensington house projects have involved the kind of coordinated refurbishment where structure, layouts, services and finishes all overlap. The finished rooms only work when the sequence behind them has been controlled from the start.
APARTMENTS + MAISONETTES
Large apartments require the same discipline as houses.
Kensington's larger flats and maisonettes can involve just as much sequencing and technical coordination as a house. Access, deliveries, service routes, retained fabric, neighbouring properties and finished protection all influence how the construction is planned.
TRADITIONAL INTERIORS + KITCHENS
Traditional does not mean ordinary.
Collingham Place and Gloucester Road are useful examples of a different side of our residential experience: interiors where proportion, joinery, material choice and detailing needed to feel refined and established rather than aggressively contemporary. Kitchens within this kind of refurbishment still require the same careful coordination of cabinetry, stone, appliances, lighting, ventilation, plumbing and finished dimensions.
STRUCTURAL CHANGE
The best refurbishments often involve changing the building before finishing it.
At 13 Redfield Lane the wider refurbishment included a rear extension. More generally, substantial residential work can require altered openings, new steelwork, temporary support, changed layouts and new structural interfaces before the interior package can begin.
PRIVATE ROOMS
The quietest rooms still depend on disciplined construction.
Principal bedrooms and private suites bring together joinery, lighting, heating or cooling, flooring, decoration and often adjacent bathroom or dressing-room packages. The aim is for all of that coordination to disappear once the room is complete.
BATHROOMS + STONE
Beautiful bathrooms depend on what sits behind the finish.
Waterproofing, falls, drainage, concealed services, heating, stone setting-out, specialist glass and brassware all need to be resolved before the room reaches its final appearance. The expensive material is only the visible layer of a much more technical build-up.
BESPOKE JOINERY
Built around the house rather than added afterwards.
Wardrobes, dressing rooms, libraries, wall panelling and integrated cabinetry work best when dimensions, electrical points, lighting and surrounding finishes are coordinated before manufacture begins.
FAMILY HOMES
High-end residential work still has to function as a home.
Kensington projects are often substantial family residences rather than showpieces. Bedrooms, children's rooms, storage, circulation and everyday durability matter alongside the architectural finish. The best outcome is a house that feels effortless to live in after the construction complexity has disappeared.
SPECIALIST SPACES
Private amenities need to be integrated, not added as an afterthought.
Cinema rooms, AV systems, acoustic treatments, specialist lighting, air conditioning and bespoke joinery introduce additional interfaces. We coordinate specialist suppliers with the main construction so the technology disappears into the finished architecture.
BEHIND THE INTERIOR
A period house can look traditional while functioning like a completely modern home.
Heating, hot water, electrical systems, lighting control, ventilation, cooling, AV, security and plumbing all need physical space and coordinated routes. The challenge is integrating them without compromising the rooms the client actually sees.
PROJECT CONTROL
The quality of the finish is influenced months before finishing begins.
On a substantial refurbishment, programme, procurement, information and quality control protect the design as much as craftsmanship does. Problems become expensive when they are discovered after specialist manufacture or after finished rooms have already been closed up.
Architect. Interior designer. Engineer. Specialist supplier. Main contractor. One project.
We are comfortable joining an established professional team. Architects, interior designers, structural engineers, M&E specialists, lighting designers, kitchen suppliers, joinery companies, stone fabricators and specialist installers all need their information turned into one workable construction sequence.
KENSINGTON TRACK RECORD
Different properties. Different specifications. The same requirement for careful residential construction.
Our Kensington work spans family houses, large flats, maisonettes, extension-led refurbishments and traditionally detailed interiors.
BUILDING IN KENSINGTON
Period architecture. Modern living. No compromise between the two.
Kensington contains a broad mix of period townhouses, mansion flats, apartments, maisonettes and substantial family homes. Refurbishing them well often means balancing retained architectural character with new structure, completely renewed services and a much more demanding modern specification.
Adam Renovations undertakes major residential refurbishment, structural alterations, extensions, roof and loft works and high-specification interior construction across Kensington and central London.
